Grenada is far more than a picturesque “Isle of Spice” with white sand beaches and English as the official language. It is a strategically significant jurisdiction that offers investors a unique advantage – one not available to passport holders of any other Caribbean nation: eligibility for the U.S. E-2 Investor Visa.
The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Programme is widely recognised as one of the most flexible and reputable in the world. As a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, Grenada maintains political stability, transparent legislation, and offers investors not merely a second passport, but a comprehensive instrument for global business expansion and tax optimisation.
Why Investors Choose Grenada Citizenship
Grenada is the only Caribbean country whose citizens are eligible for the E-2 Investor Visa. This non-immigrant visa permits lawful residence in the United States, the right to own and operate a business, manage assets, and scale commercial operations across the American market. The visa has no fixed expiry date and may be renewed indefinitely, provided the business remains operational.
A Grenada passport grants visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 135 countries, including the United Kingdom, the entire Schengen Area, Singapore, Hong Kong, and China (up to 30 days). It is a powerful tool for international travel and business activity.
In addition to the E-2 visa, Grenada citizens may obtain a B-1/B-2 tourist visa valid for up to 10 years, permitting stays of up to 180 days per visit.
Grenada imposes no taxes on worldwide income, dividends, interest, salaries, capital gains, or inheritance. This creates a legal framework for effective tax planning and capital protection.
Citizens of Grenada have the right to register international business companies (IBCs) with a special tax status. Information about the founders is not entered into the public trade register, ensuring a high level of confidentiality and simplifying settlements with foreign partners.
Your application may include your spouse, children under 30, parents of any age, and siblings, provided they meet the dependency criteria.
Grenada officially recognizes dual citizenship. You retain your current passport and all the rights associated with it.
Investment Options: Terms and Thresholds
Citizenship of Grenada by investment is available through two legally established mechanisms. Each route has a clearly defined minimum contribution and designated purpose.
A non-refundable donation to the state-managed fund, allocated to infrastructure development, tourism, renewable energy, and social projects.
Minimum Contribution: 235,000 USD
The payment is one-time and non-refundable.
Investments may only be made through an authorised local agent – direct applications to the fund are not permitted.
Note: Applicants may submit their citizenship application immediately upon contribution, or first apply for permanent residence and transition to citizenship at a later stage.
Acquisition of an approved share in a government-designated property project, including hotel complexes, villas, and resort residences.
Minimum Investment: 270,000 USD
Mandatory Holding Period: 5 years
Upon satisfying the holding requirement, the investor may sell the asset and recover the invested capital.
Real estate investment combines citizenship acquisition with ownership of a tangible foreign asset capable of generating rental income.
The Citizenship Process: Step-by-Step
IST Hungary provides full-scope legal and organisational support at every stage – from investment selection to passport issuance.
Engagement of an Authorised Agent
Citizenship applications in Grenada must be submitted exclusively through an authorised international marketing agent. IST Hungary holds the required accreditation and maintains direct access to the Citizenship by Investment Committee (CBIC).
Documentation Preparation
We assist in compiling the complete application dossier, including form completion, medical examinations, legalisation, and translation of all documents in compliance with CBIC requirements. In the case of real estate investment, we facilitate the purchase agreement and transaction.
Application Submission
Documents are submitted to the CBIC executive office. All communication with the Committee is conducted exclusively through the agent. At present, a mandatory personal interview is not required.
Due Diligence and Approval
The Government of Grenada conducts a comprehensive due diligence review of the main applicant and all adult dependents. This includes verification of the source of funds, business reputation, and confirmation of no criminal or financial violations.
The CBIC issues a recommendation, with the final decision rendered by the Minister for Citizenship. Notification is communicated via the authorised agent.
Investment Finalisation and Passport Issuance
Upon receipt of approval-in-principle, the applicant must fulfil the full investment obligation – either by transferring the NTF contribution or completing the real estate acquisition. Following payment confirmation, the CBIC issues a Certificate of Registration, confirming citizenship status. This certificate is used to apply for the Grenada passport.
Total Processing Time: 4 to 6 months.
