Thailand Changes Entry Rules from September 15, 2026

We are sharing the latest news for everyone planning trips to Southeast Asia or exploring international mobility options.
The Government of Thailand has officially published a decree reducing the visa-free stay period from 60 to 30 days. The new regulation comes into effect on September 15, 2026.
What you need to know:
- For Russian citizens: A separate bilateral agreement remains in place – the entry period stays at up to 30 days.
- For citizens of Uzbekistan: The situation requires clarification. Uzbekistan was not included in the new visa-free list, and there is no separate bilateral agreement yet. We recommend monitoring official announcements.
- Visa on Arrival (VOA) remains available for citizens of Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Serbia.
- Restrictions have been introduced for entry via land borders (no more than 2 times per year), but this rule does not apply to Russian nationals.
Important nuance:
Some sources note that the countdown may begin from the date of signing the document (August 26). Theoretically, if you arrive before September 10, there is a chance to receive a 60‑day stamp. However, the final decision always rests with the border officer.
